I own several other Viltrox lenses and this one lives up to the reputation that I have come to expect from their products.
The lens glass is clear and images are sharp. The build quality is amazing and includes a metal lens mount like their other gear. Also included is a lens hood… these are a priority to me and I have one for every lens I own.
Function on the camera is speedy with fast autofocus and no hunting. Bokeh is soft and beautiful for a f/2.8 aperture on a 20mm lens as long as you keep your subject and background a good distance apart. The closer the subject is to the background, the more the bokeh becomes muddy and a little harsh… I would not recommend this for anything closeup.
I found this lens to be perfect for video, the 20mm focal length is perfect and the f/2.8 aperture gets plenty of light to the sensor.
Manual focus is crisp and fast… feels smooth as well.
Overall this is a great lens for the Nikon Z-Mount system and I would suggest it for video shooters over photographers. It will produce great stills but there are better and faster options on the market.

I absolutely love this lens! The day after it arrived I put it on my Nikon Z5 and took it on a client shoot. The results we perfect, exactly what I was looking for. And the money spent was so worth it. It is crazy this lens is cheaper than the Nikon version(new or used even). I 100% recommend this Viltrox 85mm. As for sharpness, just check out the example photos I posted. I ordered my second Viltrox lens last night, the Viltrox 24mm f1.8. I can’t wait!

Lens quality, picture quality, sharpness are top of the line,got at 47k during sale so value for money.its made for apsc camera but can be used on Full frame camera with crop mode (dx on nikon) though resolution is reduced to almost half eg. 45mp to 20 mp. a killer lens at this price point. For this kind of performance in full frame camera you have to pay almost 1.5 lac or 2 lac .
I used it on nikon z50 and boom…. subject pops in the photograph. I have 50mm 1.8s and now this one I like both lenses.

After reading the negative reviews on here, my hope is that I did not get a faulty lens as I have had this now for a day and am blown away by sharpness, depth and bokeh, this lens produces.
In six months to a year I will follow up on this review in regards to the longevity of its build construction. But as of right now the only true complain – and more an annoyance and a big one – is the lens hood. It’s poorly constructed and does not attach smoothly.
For such an oversight is really mindblowing. A properly fitting hood is essential for a lens. This one is truly poor in build quality and is not easy to use at all and can see myself easily getting in jammed or broken.
Odd to have Viltrox skimp on such a simple thing…

Das Objektiv entspricht ungefähr 35mm auf Kleinbild gesehen.
Es ist sehr gut verarbeitet und liegt gut in der Hand. Die Sonnenblende rastet satt ein und kann auch verkehrt herum aufgesetzt werden. Auch an meiner Nikon Z fc sitzt das Objektiv gut.
Bildqualität ist wirklich sehr schön und man kann damit sehr gut freistellen. Das Bokeh ist sehr angenehm.
2 Nachteile hat das Objektiv, die mir aber im Vorfeld bekannt waren:
1. Der Blendenring ist nicht rastend
2. Die Rastung auf “A” ist zwar vorhanden, aber nicht sehr gut fühlbar.

I bought this lens several months ago and have put it through some tough tryouts. For reference, I don’t usually use non Nikon branded lens. Several brands have really let me down, wanted my money. This lens is different. It’s light, well made, takes filters easy, it has the illuminated settings window which is super useful in low light and the aperture ring. I’ve grown quite fond of this lens and have used it in a variety of situations. Including desert sky/landscape, concert music festival, editorial assignments this lens has performed flawlessly and is a joy to use. I’ve paired it with my Nikon Z9 but I am sure no matter the camera it will perform just as good. The company packages it well and I can tell they take great pride in the manufacture of this lens, even though it is deemed a bargain lens. I will not hesitate to buy another lens from Viltox

The workmanship is really impeccable and very robust. The images that I get are crystal clear and very sharp. The quality of them is excellent
The placement of the lenses to the camera is very simple. They have a metal round around the edge that connects to the camera
Since I personally consider that the price is totally worth it for lenses of this high quality and ease of use, I can only recommend them. In my case it has worked wonderfully for videos especially

Great value for the money. I needed a small lightweight wide angle lens for travel. The lens is plastic with metal mount. (Nikon similar lens has plastic mount). AF STM motor works great on my Z5 and pictures are sharp. Limited warranty only for 1 year. Time will tell how durable it is but so far I am happy with this purchase.
