Bester Kompromiss aus Mitten- und Randschärfe liegt bei dieser Linse vielleicht bei f13.
f8 bis f11 sind in der Mitte am besten, aber der Rand ist durch weiteres Abblenden sehr verbesserungsfähig. Ab f16 werden Beugungsunschärfen zu deutlich.
Die Offenblende f2.8 gut brauchbar für Parties und Reportage, aber nix für Astro.
Aufgrund des geringen Gewichts bei geringem Preis von mir 5 statt 4 Sterne.

You really can’t go wrong with this lens at the price point. It is fairly sharp, good contrast and the autofocus is good and comparable to some Sony native lenses. Great buy

This ultra wide 20mm lens from Viltrox may not be the best ever wide angle lens ever existed, but at this shockingly low price point, I personally think this lens is as perfect as it could be!
First of, the lens build quality is actually quite excellent for such a cheap lens. I know many people said it felt cheap, but I beg to differ. As a product design engineer for the last 20 years, the quality and finish of the plastic material used is fantastically executed! Truly impressive manufacturing work. The lens feels very well made and solid at this low price. The metal mount is smoothly and precisely made. I love the integrated usb-c port for firmware updates. I think all 3rd party lens manufacturers should include this smart feature. The focus ring is just tight enough and rotates smoothly like butter. Again, it’s not a metal ring rotating on a $2000 lens, but at this price, I think the plastic ring is absolutely perfectly done. Zero wobble, zero play. Precise rotation in both directions.
Image quality is excellent for my general use. I tried it on my full-frame Sony A7R3 and I love the ultra wide angle of view. It’s so refreshing and fun to use! Then I tried it on my cropped-sensor Sony FX30 and it’s excellent too for video work. The 20mm becomes 30mm and it’s perfect for blogging and becomes an excellent standard wide lens.
Ok, I don’t pixel peek and there’s no point to doing so for such a low cost lens. If one must pixel peek, then one must spend more on the budget. For me, the images produced are crisp and clean enough for some super cool wide angle images. When I stop it down to round f4 to f5.6, this lens is simply amazing!
Overall, have fun with this super fantastic value ultra wide lens. It is an excellent glass for the money. Great images. Focus is fast enough for the money. Very little focus breathing. Stop it down for some fantastic results. Buy it before the manufacturer increases the price!

I bought this compact and very affordable lens as an alternative to my Nikon 24-120 S lens. At the cost of €160, how could I go wrong? The fact is that this lens punches well above its cost with amazing colors and contrast. Autofocus is quick and the center sharpness is fantastic. I plan on taking this lens for street photography when I don’t need the reach of my Nikon zoom and don’t want the extra size and weight. A very good lens at an amazing price. Viltrox, IMHO, is an up and coming company to watch. 4.5 stars.

I actually returned this lens and bought the NIKKOR Z 20mm S lens instead. But this was definitely a nice light well made lens. It does vignette a little but that’s easy to fix so not a big deal. I just want a lens that’s weather sealed and very sharp at more wide open apertures to use for astrophotography while backpacking. For general photography purposes this lens would be a good choice.

I can’t believe the price of this lens. I was able to do an entire real estate shoot with this and the photos came out great. It works well for video too. Obviously more expensive lenses perform better with auto focus and sharpness but this is tons sharper than a kit lens I’m very pleased with it and would recommend to someone who is on a budget and needs something wider. Most times I will still be using my 24-70mm because it has the same aperture and I won’t want to change lenses but when I need that extra little bit of widened I won’t hesitate to to use this lens.

The negative side is the autofocus was slow on my Sony A7S, which is a 10+ year old camera. Maybe this model autofocuses more quickly on new models, I don’t know. Manual focus works reasonably good, but I wouldn’t want to have to depend on manual focus for every single shot.
Quite a bit of distortion on the images. Probably not too significant for landscape photos, but anything with vertical lines, not good. Would definitely need to straighten out the image in post production.
The lens is reasonably bright, and the build quality is good. I returned this lens because the autofocus was too slow, and not really all that usable, and the distortion on the image would require too much adjustment time after.
BKH – STG Synergies –
The Viltrox 20mm lens arrived in good order with the lens itself, two caps, a shadow reducer (snood), and carry bag. This is a quality product.
The manual focus is smooth. The auto focus is similar, very quick, very quiet, and attempts to fool the focus (by rapid switching of subject distances) were met with aplomb. The lens is light and workable, and I detected no edge or ring chromatic distortion, common in less expensive lenses. The edges, of course, look just slightly fuzzy or soft, very usual even in FAR more expensive devices.
For what this is, a $180 lens (in photog world, that is “inexpensive”) it performs brilliantly. For me, an amateur+ photog, this delivers excellent value for money.

This lens is very lightweight. But don’t let that fool you. The lens performs very well. The manual focus turns very smoothly and I am able to quickly get my subject into focus in no time at all. The auto focus motor is quiet and and accurate. I had no problems with the AF during my recording test. The wide angle looks great shooting outdoors. The center of images looks sharp, but the corners look a bit soft. At this price point, you really get a well performing lens and fun to use. It will not beat some other lens out there, but those also comes at a much higher price point. For your average photographer, this lens is a fantastic starter.
