This was one of very few POE IP cameras for underwater use that I could find. I works really well. Instructions and installation was difficult. Instructions are in English but not very coherent. I’m aware that this is a Chinese made camera and the instructions reflect that. But managed to get the software installed and the app on my phone installed. After installation, it is solid. Great connection and great video. One downside is that the infrared lights on the camera are automatic and at night the video is horrible. The infrared lights up all the pond particles in the water close to the lens. The whole screen looks like a really bad snowstorm with faint images of my fish in the background. It’s amazing that the video is so good in the daytime when the infrared lights are not on. The frame and mount are great! Solid steel. Very robust. Overall I’m very happy with it.

Great picture. Gave 3 stars because it took a rocket scientist to figure out how to hook it up outside with a tplink. This camera needs to be plugged into a modem or computer to work out of the box. Otherwise, you need to hook up a wireless link to run outside to your pond.

Cannot see anything but snow at night.

First of all, this is a quality camera with good construction and a great picture. There is not a lot in the box, but the box is sturdy and you can use it as a carrying case to move and store the camera. It comes with a solid camera and 5 meters of cord which is around 15 feet. There is some discrepancy on the listing it says 1440P in the listing and 4 MP, but in the description it says 1080p and 5MP. if I had to guess its 5MP and 1080P, but regardless the picture is flawless. I did not test it underwater, but inside my house it was as good as or better than any of my indoor or outdoor cameras.
It is a little expensive, but its rated IP68, so it should be good from 1 to 5 meters or so. The construction is top notch and the camera has a heavy feel to it. It also comes with sturdy mounting screws. The casing is stainless steel and is fog free and durable. I got this to put in my pool as sort of a cool thing to show people, but this can be used in a variety of means, such as Koi ponds or general observation.
The USB drive with the manuals on it are fantastic. It also had videos on how to set it up. My only issue is that I guess because its a Chinese product there is no sound on the video, so you really have to pay attention. I spent some time rewinding it to get it setup up. I wont say setup is really easy, but if you have some LAN and computer knowledge its not difficult.
Make sure during setup you click allow network otherwise it wont show you the IP address, also make sure they are plugged into the same network. I have a few networks setup and forgot that. There are several ways to set this up and it includes POE, which if you have a switch that utilizes POE then you don’t need the power cord. I do not, but I might get one for this. POE is essentially Power over Ethernet, which turns your Ethernet cord into a power cord as well.
Overall this was semi-easy to setup for someone knowledgeable, but I could see this being hard for a computer novice. they do have support. The picture quality was fantastic and its a great camera for your underwater needs.

Great SS housing – but that’s it.. internal camera and NIC are poor quality, now way to up date firmware and the software is terrible… I’m going remove the junk and install Hikvision cams in the housings

I have been using these in my outdoor pond for around a year through every season now and they have been running flawlessly. Just lift them out of the water every now and then to clean the lens from any build up.

After much searching and review reading I settled on this Barlus camera. The picture is crisp and clear and the reproduction of underwater colours is accurate. As others have mentioned, not just plug and play, at least with my NVR, but help from China was fast, sometimes on the same day, which given the 8hours difference was impressive. My problem was setting the parameters for Onvif or IP cameras as as it wanted to follow Hikvision protocol with its own port number. All this was explained and some of it remotely configured for me. The footage shown was recorded on the iPad from the TV so not up to original quality but still good enough for review purposes I think. Clear water obviously helps and much moving of the camera to get the best views but even with good water the infra red was not of much use at night. Somehow I did manage to switch of the infra red mode on one of many configuration utilities I was trying but was told this was not possible! However with pond lights already installed this gives a usable night time image which is far better than the infra red mode. Altogether a hefty, well made camera with good support from the manufacturers should you require it.

Perfect for my 150 gallon stock tank turtle pond. Great picture quality. Software is tricky to learn but eventually I figured it out with help from their excellent tech support staff.

It seemed like a great idea, but I could not get the camera to connect to the app. The instructions were not in English and did not help in getting this camera successfully set up. Very sad as we were hoping to use it to watch our fish.

I’m extremely satisfied with this product. From unboxing the camera to having it functioning in my aquarium via a TP-link N300 into Blue Iris software took me maybe 20 minutes. (I know it’s overkill for my little aquarium but I’m into this sort of thing.) It is standards compliant, so Blue Iris recognized it straight away without even using the manufacturer’s software to configure it. (I highly recommend Blue Iris to accompany this camera, but any software that works with ONVIF should work.) It worked straight out of the box. Also, I’m amazed at how well it works in low light situations. The attached photo was taken in a dark room with the aquarium hood lights off. I could barely see the fish with my eyes, but the camera captured amazing detail. I eventually would like a Koi pond, and if I do, a couple of these cameras will definitely go in it. If you have a pond, large aquarium, or pool, I highly recommend this camera.

The camera itself seems well built, its bigger and heavier than I expected.
Setup was not a pleasant experience. I was going to return
tech support was……slow, seems like emails were sent late in their work day( i got at 5:30 am, end of workday in chin). I had to wait till next morning for response. This made the process slow. And when all was said and done, the only thing they did was send another software program with less instruction than the camera itself.
If there were more alternatives I would have sent back.
I finally got it running, now I have to get it in pond to see how good it under water.
Four stars is because of the construction of camera. If it was a cheap cam it would have been on its way back.
Camera is in pond…WELL worth the wait.

I bought two underwater cameras for my koi ponds. I wish they came with better instructions but couldn’t get them configured right. However, tech support was great. They very patient and responsive and got each of the cameras up and running in about half an hour. The cameras themselves are very solid. While there is night vision, the cameras in the daytime really make the koi look good! Because the camera is underwater, the glass cover needs to be wiped down frequently. Otherwise, the video feed will be blurry. Overall, it is cool to see my koi from underwater…and the phone app works great too because I can check out my koi, live, from anywhere I have Internet access!
