Flora Schildknecht –
Bottom line: a very capable, palm-sized camera that ably functions on land and underwater. Having 2 screens (front and back) allows for excellent selfies using the main 48MP lens, or self-recording for Vlogging.
I needed a camera capable of catching a moving 7 year old and I am not disappointed. The combination of high resolution (48MP) and waterproof (to 11 ft) were big selling points. This camera was able to take pictures and video capable of capturing water droplets of a 7 year old’s splash and nice images topside as well, including capturing white fan blades against a white ceiling without flash (in “Sports” mode)
Set up (date etc.,) was straightforward. The menu structure takes some time to get used to, but once you do it is very simple, with one menu icon for Quality, Mode etc., Getting two batteries was a nice surprise and helps lighten the overall weight. My only gripe (shared by every other camera I have owned) is that changing from still to video requires a menu change which takes a few seconds.

First of all, this camera is as advertised. After we got it, we spent the day at the beach and pool playing around with it. The camera had no problem being in the water for hours at a time, and the images are fantastic! We shot video at 4K and the stills at 48MP. The video is slightly jerky so when you use it for shooting motion, keep the camera movement to a minimum. We made our own selfie stick to hold the camera underwater for smooth video.
The digital zoom works well and is easy to use. It has a monitor on the front of the camera for selfies, also very easy to access. The camera has many special effects which is really fun for my son to play with. It is very small and compact allowing you to take it anywhere very easily. Getting used to the menu takes a little time, but once you spend some time with it, it starts to get more familiar.
Two batteries are included which is very helpful. We always keep two batteries charged when going out with the camera. Charging is done with the battery in the camera using the supplied USB cable and power brick. The battery life for each charge lasts a pretty long time.
There are several settings for picture quality, I would recommend using the highest setting of 48MP, which carries a slightly higher file size. Also good lighting helps the images come very close to iPhone quality. With some images, the difference between the two camera is indistinguishable.
The camera shoots on a micro SD card which can easily attach to a computer, either connecting the camera to a computer with the supplied cable or using an micro SD card reader, which I purchased on Amazon for $7.
Also recommended is a hard shell case, also purchased on Amazon for $16. It’s a worthwhile purchase as my son will throw the camera in his backpack which will get jostled around quite a bit.
The camera has the standard thread mount so it can be attached to virtually any tripod or selfie stick.
Overall, it’s a great quality camera for the price and the fact that is completely waterproof is a huge bonus, especially if it’s for kids and you don’t have to worry about any damage from water.

Charging this camera is a challenge. Seems like the cord is either the wrong one or a bit defective. I thought it was great that it came with 2 batteries but now I know why – they don’t last very long at all. I can’t comment yet on the quality of the pictures because the batteries are both dead, I can’t get it to charge again & I just got home so haven’t transferred them to my laptop. Based on charging & battery life alone – I’d say stay away from this one & look further. Do not recommend.
Dr Steve –
I purchased this camera because I needed a camera that I could bring out to the lake and not worry about it getting wet or lost. For less than $100, it’s hard to find any that have real optical zoom, a front-facing screen, and high resolution. And you’ll learn at the end of this review why I didn’t share some of my camera photos.
So let’s start with the pros. First, I plunged this camera into the lake, and I never worried about it staying securely waterproof. My lake is pretty murky, so the pics I took weren’t going to be clear no matter what, but I was surprised at how bright the front-facing viewscreen was, bright enough to be seen underwater. That’s helpful if you want to selfie yourself underseas. I just need to head to the Bahamas or something where the water is clearer. Second, the convenience of this camera is hard to beat, with not only the easy to toggle from the back to the front viewscreen, but also how small this camera was to fit into my swimsuit.
Now on to the needs improvement. A back button on this device might be helpful. I couldn’t immediately determine how to go back in the menu, but I did figure it out after a minute. I also do wish the charging interface on this device was a faster, more common USB-C instead of the increasingly less common Micro-USB. One other thought is to include a flotation handle that would help the camera stay afloat if accidentally dropped in the water. Which is what happened to me, as I used the included strap, but on taking it off and setting the camera on the edge of the boat, a wave rocked the boat, and down went the device. So right now, it is somewhere in the lakebed. The good news is that if someone finds it months from now, it will still be working.
Overall, if you need a portable, high-quality, inexpensive, indestructible camera that even your kids can use, then this one is worth trying. I just don’t want to risk my $1000+ phone in the water and put it at risk of being lost. I plan to order another one of these, since this one is now gone (and I can make a claim on my credit card for buyer’s protection). From that perspective, this purchase served its purpose as being easily replaceable when lost.
