I’m amazed by the quality of this lens—especially for the price. I compared it to my Nikkor Z 24-200mm lens(over the 70-200mm range) and the Tamron was as sharp or sharper in every case. The 24-200 Nikkor is not an S lens, but it’s a very good lens. The Tamron focuses quickly and accurately. I have the Nikkor Z 100-400 lens and love it (unfortunately I’m traveling and don’t have it with me so I haven’t compared picture quality between it and the Tamron). However, the Z 100-400 mm weighs almost 3 pounds. The Tamron is only 300 mm maximum but also just over 1 pound. I’m 77 years old, so the weight difference is important. For most photos in the 100+ range, the Tamron is my go to lens.

I’m very suspicious of this product – from this specific vendor, based on the packaging and Chinese point of origin, I strongly suspect it is used or reconditioned. It seems to function okay – I realize this is very much a budget item – and I took a risk. Time will tell, but be aware there are some oddities with this offering. Time will tell – but be cautious, you do indeed pay for what you get.

An update – fairly awful product, do not buy.

I like that ability to zoom with the lens. Focus is a little slow for sports. But for the price it’s a good lens.

  5. Leonie

This lens is sharp, compact and lightweight. If you have Z8 or Z9 or Z6iii maybe, you will be happy with autofocus and image sharpness. Other old bodies you will be disappointed, many pictures are out of focus.
Best lens for travel and everyday casual photography.

  6. Morpey

Awesome lens. At this price point it can’t be beat

  7. Marty

    great

In the limited time I have used this new lens, I’m very pleased with it. It’s light and operates quickly and quietly. A travel pouch would be ideal and isn’t included.
I’m happy with this for my Nikon ZFc and feel that the size and weight are appropriate for this compact camera. .

I’m not a pro photographer, and I was searching for a budget-friendly option with a good focus range. I came across this lens. At first glance, it may not have crystal-clear sharpness, but overall, it gets the job done. It’s among the best lenses in this price range. Being plastic, it’s lightweight. I recommend giving it a try; it won’t disappoint you, but don’t expect miracles.

  10. John Smith

Best all round lens I’ve purchased for years. Light, affordable and useable plus great results near and far.

  11. Mark B. Bendiksen

Even though it is an inexpensive lens it is sharp & I get good results from it.
Wish it had anti shake (lol) in the lens but it is still a good lens & not too heavy.

  12. Angel De La Cerna

For those of us who are “serious hobbyists” this is, without a doubt, a perfect zoom lens. For a Z-mount lens, the price is fantastic compared to similar options currently available. Yes, it’s a variable F-stop up to 6.3, which could potentially be a frustration when zooming to 300 mm in very low light situations. But how common is that, honestly? For me personally, that’s a rare scenario. I’m extremely impressed with the clarity across the entire focal range, and the autofocus speed is solid as well. Highly recommended!

  13. Tilleys

For the cost of this size lense it is very budget friendly clear glass and light weight
