I bought two strobes and they both stopped working. No flooding, tried new batteries, etc. I’ve reached out for support to Sea&Sea twice and I still haven’t heard back. To say I’m frustrated would be an understatement. My last 4 cameras had Sea&Sea housings and strobes. This may be my last.

Edit: Dealing with S&S support leaves a lot to be desired. Once they agreed to accept the strobes back, they took a few weeks to send back refurbished replacements, and I had to harass them for updates. The refurbished units work fine.

Control. The reason to buy this light is control. I shoot professionally on land, and have a full understanding of lighting, so anything less than this is a disappointment. That said, you don’t have to buy a branded optical slave cable, so save your money there.

Also LOVE the integrated modeling light for focus.

I used this flash for 14 dives before the battery compartment flooded. I was very pleased with the operation of the unit in TTL mode hooked up to my Olympus TG-6 camera inside an Olympus PT-059 housing. The power output at distances up to about 2 feet is impressive and my underwater pictures were much improved over using ambient light and custom white balance.

The battery compartment cover closes with a 1/4 turn. It is possible to get the cover mis-aligned so that it appears to be sealed when it isn’t. Knowing this, I feel comfortable this problem can be avoided by using extreme care to ensure it is aligned properly. Mine flooded on the 11th dive. It worked ok for 2 more dives but is now inoperable. Kudos to Amazon and their subsidiary Online Scuba for allowing me to return the unit for a full refund. I’ll be buying another.
