This is my third GR camera and by far my favorite. I bought the GR II for travel and mountain biking and loved the size, and got used to its quirks. The GR III was next level with better IS, IQ, and autofocus, and I got so many amazing images. But 40mm is much better suited to what I like to shoot. If I’d bought the GR IIIx years ago, I know I would have fewer lenses in my camera bag. GR cameras are less intimidating to subjects than even phones; they look like toys. And the 40mm more easily isolates the subject in my rural and mostly outdoorsy settings. The battery life is fine. I have one spare and I have never run out, probably because I take a few snaps, turn it off, return it to my pocket/pack and repeat. For sporty stuff, 4-5 fps is pretty limiting, but if you do get a keeper, it’s way better than what my phone would’ve gotten, and for hiking/biking, this is much nicer to bring along than a full-size camera. The macro mode is way better than expected. I use it much more than my macro lenses because this is always with me. Big fan; very pleased with this camera.

No strap, missing part of charger. I think I got the same used one as some of the other reviews got…. This is ridiculous!

I had the original GR and wanted to update, as I prefer to be able to operate a camera single handedly. (Smartphone cameras are great, but but you just need two hands.) Coming from a Sony mirrorless, the auto focus hunts at times and feels just a touch slow, but a great trade off for the weight, ease of operation and the wonderful image quality.
Other reviewers mentioned the wrist strap, but I did not notice it in the product description. The charger is not included, as it appears the battery is meant to be charged via the camera.
Yes, those two elements seem a little lacking, but should not be a deal breaker for the result you get with the images.

It’s super hard to get one of this. Luckily I found it here at retail price which was so awesome! It even came way earlier than expected. Thank you so much!!!

The camera is great thus far. However, I received a nylon wrist strap not leather strap.

I absolutely love the Ricoh GR III Urban Edition. It’s my first Ricoh and I became a fan immediately. It’s small size and snap focus features makes it perfect for travel and taking candid photos.

I can’t believe the quality of the images that I get from this tiny camera. I was not expecting much, but it takes some mean photos.
Functionalities are intuitive and fairly easy to master if you have experience with other digital cameras.
Touch screen is smooth – love the “touch + auto-focus + shoot” feature.
40mm focal length is perfect for me – and I shoot mostly on 50mm, taking urban and street photographs.
Auto-focus struggles in low light situations, but can’t expect too much from such a tiny camera.
Short battery life is very much noticeable. If you want to rely on this camera to take some photos for a day, then prepare to take at least 3 batteries.

This is my third Ricoh GR, with the first one a film camera. The form factor and size are unbeatable. It’s hard to believe something so small produces pictures so good.

Battery life sucks on this camera. It’s also terrible in low light. Buy from another seller, because my friends were able to get the camera for less and with 2 batteries. This company only provides 1.

I paid full price and expected to get a new camera, but instead, I got a scratched and dusty camera with someone’s photos inside.
As a fan of Ricoh GR3, I’m disappointed. So I’m going to buy the same camera in different place.

I recently got into mobile photography, but I was never impressed with the processed hdr look from iPhones and Samsung S series phones which looked too unnatural for me. So I decided to pick this little guy up.
If you are really into street photography, this is the perfect camera. It’s super small (about the side of a iPhone 13 mini in footprint) and produces beautiful raws. It’s so pocketable, I take it everywhere I go. The raw files are a pleasure to work with. They are like a combination of Sony ARWs and Canon CR2s. Being a Sony shooter and previous Canon shooter, I really appreciate the Canon like raw colors straight out of the camera and the Sony like dynamic range flexibility for editing.
I am so happy I took a chance on this camera over trying to find an extremely hard to find X100v. 10/10 recommended as an everyday camera! Also a little tl;dr pro con list to end up my review!
Pros:
– super pocketable size
– solid magnesium body
– solid JPG files and amazing DNG raws
– IBIS is very effective
– easy to use interface (Sony please do better lol)
– APSC sensor size in a point n shoot size camera!!!
Cons:
– many accesories to buy. System get expensive quick.
– slow autofocus, but snap focus seems to work well (just need to learn how to use it)
– no 4K video
– small battery
