When Kodak announced they will release a Zink instant camera, I could not be happier. As an owner of the Polaroid Zink Snap and Fuji Instax 9, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. Growing up we always had Kodak around the house, and we have many pictures that we printed with our Kodak’s. And I am very excited about the Printomatic
First of all for the price of $69.99 it is a great value, and the design looks great, you can choose a yellow or grey color version. The Zink quality is great with the camera.
Included in the box is: Printomatic, USB cable, QSG, Hand Strap. (Note no paper is included so make sure you get some of those as well)
Even though Fuji Instax is similar price, Instax quality doesn’t compare to the Kodak Zink quality. Also with Kodak it is a digital camera so you can save the pictures you take, and most important cost per print is $0.50 for Zink and it is close to $1 for Fuji
It was very simple to insert the paper into the camera back door, just make sure blue paper is facing downwards , which will print out in first print and it cleans the camera
Very simple to use, choose color or black and white option, then just snap. And picture will print out very fast.
All in all I highly recommend this as your instant option

PRO:
– Scatta e stampa immediatamente;
– Le foto stampate hanno uno charme differente da quelle archiviate digitalmente;
– Facilissima da utilizzare.
CONTRO:
– Qualità della stampa non eccelsa;

If your expectations are realistic for this reasonably priced item, you will be happy. $70 (+$0.50/photo paper sheet) is, in my book, reasonable for a camera/printer in one, considering that there is never a need to purchase toner, and there is the option for a Mini SD/ability to save digitally. I think the manufacturer photos/videos are realistic, they make no claims to great photo quality – the best thing about this camera is the fun, instant factor. The photo quality will seem subpar, in comparison to the excellent cameras we are all used to now on our smartphones, but in good lighting (esp outdoors), the color/picture is good. Do not expect super sharp details, or super vibrant colors. Great fun for parties, photo booth option with instant gratification (photos are immediately dry, pretty darn water resistant and sticky backed for collage fun). Minus 1 star because it is shutter button is SO easy to hit, at $0.50 a pop it gets annoying (every picture taken prints, no choice), really should have a lock or require firmer pushing. Defined area in viewfinder is a bit hard to see.
Camera does beep when turned on and ready, and when shutter has been pressed. Kodak does provide a manual online, no manual included, worth a quick perusal for details like ‘don’t add more paper until empty, ‘camera holds up to 3 images’ (as in it will retain 3 photos if you’re out of paper and you have not inserted microSD).

I don’t mind the Zink technology. Like that photos print so you can hand them out on site, but still have the images on the SD card so have your own copies.
DEAL BRAKER: The shutter button placement, lack of prominence and sensitivity. I think more photos we taken unintentionally by myself and others than photos intentionally taken. It is placed on the top right edge of the camera with no other space to hold it while framing your picture. Plus it’s flat (nearly flush with the camera body) and white. Just like the top of the camera and the power button right next to it. Most frustrating, it barely depresses when you touch it, so the slightest bump takes a photo. Unlike some of the other cameras, this one doesn’t give you the option to cancel before you print. God forbid you leave you finger on it for more than a half second, it will just keep taking more and more, so there goes all your film.
The Kodak Step model has a button that is raised, so you at least know you are touching the button, as well as space for a finger to hold the camera between the edge and the shutter.
I did have 4 other people test the camera and even provided detail warnings and demos of how not to accidentally press the shutter before it was positioned, and all failed. The ability to press down on a button seems like it might be a minor issue, but when you’re consuming film, knowing if you even got the picture you wanted or not is kind of a critical thing.
Returning for the Kodak Step.

I opened the package and the lens protector was already removed and the cardbox holders for the camera were messed up. Also there were no photopapers included as they were probably taken out by somebody.

The camera overall is great for the price. I have lots of fun with it, especially as a novelty at events. It it is very easy to use and has a color and black and white setting. Perfect for quick, fun simple scrapbooks of friends and family. Pictures can be low quality if they are not taken with care but this helps you think more about each photo.

If I could have returned this from abroad, I would have. It NEVER worked.
It says it works without an SD card. This is false.
I bought an SD card. I got several overly yellow photos even after recalibrating several times and following tips online. It finally printed half a decent photo before it stopped working again.
I tried different packs of paper. The camera beeps and does not operate– the same it did when it asked for an SD card.
This camera never worked, and I tried for an entire month to get it to work brand new out of the box. What a waste of money and time that I couldn’t even return because I got it for an out of country trip for a single picture a day. Fat lot of good that did. Don’t buy this camera. Save your money on the film paper. Don’t waste the space in your bag.
