I bought this to fly for fun and also to take aerial videos and photos. Of the extras that came in the package, I used the landing gear extensions, the propeller guards and the Kingston memory. The drone detected the extra weight of the extensions and guards and displayed a message letting you know that performance will be reduced because of this weight. The landing gear extensions were added by the vendor and are useful if you want to take off or land in grass. The prop guards are useful in case you accidentally flew into a tree or some other object. The Kingston 64k memory card added by the vendor does not support 4K video recording. The drone displayed a warning to this effect and would not record to the card. I assume it would record 1080 or lower resolution video, but I did not try that since I wanted to record in 4K. I therefore recorded to the internal 8k memory of the drone until I replaced it with a Sandisk extreme card that supports 4K. After unboxing, one will find that they will have to update the drone firmware to achieve good results. I did not do a thorough test of how long the battery will last but with the “fly more” kit you will have 3 batteries to triple your fun time. During the registration process, be prepared for the quiz that is trying to ensure that you are aware of the basic safety rules for flying a drone.

Just received my DJI Mavic Air this afternoon, and I couldn’t wait to get it in the air. After charging the batteries and the remote, jumping on the FAA site and registering it (it weighs more than .55 lbs, so it must be registered) I took it to my local park and spent about an hour or so flying it. I have owned several drones prior to this one, but none that had the features the Mavic Air has. Probably my favorite mode is SmartCapture, which allows you to use hand gestures to control the drone; it’s a lot of fun, and is a great way to take selfies. Battery life was on par with DJI specifications (they say 21 minutes; I got about 19-20 minutes on a charge) and the drone controls very smoothly.
This is a great deal. You get the Fly More combo (which, with the drone and the two extra batteries would cost $999 at retail) plus all the great extras. The landing pad is a nice touch. It keeps dust and debris from being blown up into the gimbal and the drone itself on landing. The micro SD card (64GB) that came with it works perfectly. I was able to take some great 4K video and still had plenty of room for more.
When shopping for a new drone, I was looking at the DJI Mavic Pro 2 or Mavic Pro Zoom, but the Mavic Air is perfect for me…great features at a reasonable price. If you’re looking for a great mid-range drone that takes fantastic video and is fun to fly, you really can’t go wrong with the Mavic Air.

I love my lil drone and I take it everywhere I go!

It’s quite compact and very practical. I’m even able to carry it in that small gray bag around my belt while riding a motorcycle (with 4 extra batteries). I can be lunched from hand and follow person / vehicle up to 25mph.
Image quality and stabilization is quite impressive, and it’s quite easy to fly it.
Tracking and quick shots are really awesome and easy to use.
And it’s quite resilient lil bastard: I crashed it multiple times, broke (and replaced) gimbal, ,flew it over active volcano, jungle, beaches, desert, mountains, etc.. and it’s still alive and flying!

    Few smaller comments / complaints:
    – I’ve replaced broken gimbal myself (very picky process), but I wasn’t able to calibrate new gimbal, and I had to take it to service eventually, I wish DJI was more transparent about that process (apparently they have a proprietary calibration software).
    – Pay attention to description: charge hub charging 4 batteries in ‘SEQUENCE’ – it means: one by one, not all at the same time! Also charger comes with AC adapter, and you can’t charge it on the road from power bank without DC/AC inverter or DJI DC adapter (not included in this bundle).
    – Be careful if you launch it from vehicle (car/boat): by default, if the drone loses connection, it will go back to original ‘home’ point, which is where you launched it from. ‘Home’ point can be modified, but it’s not so obvious and quick thing to do.
    – Keep in mind that this drone does NOT have side sensors, so some of the quick shot modes like HELIX or BOOMERANG, can be quite dangerous!
    – Finally, these bundles are awesome and come with lots of goodies, but none of them includes multiple MicroSD cards, which are must if you are going to use this drone while traveling.

Totally impressed with the DJI Mavic Air. I have a Mavic Pro and got the Air model as a backup for my drone business. The Air is not a toy, it is a seriously capable mini-drone. Forward and rear sensing sonar (as well as down-facing), down facing cameras, etc. The drone folds up to fit in your hand. A small armored case holds the entire Fly More kit. Traveling with it is a breeze. The Fly More kit has virtually everything you will need to do a lot of fun flying. The Mavic Air is about half the weight and maybe 5/8 the size of a Mavic Pro. It is fast and handles much quicker than the Pro as it does not have the mass or momentum (i.e. it will come to a stop and hover much quicker than the Pro). Using an Ipad Mini the performance of the RC controller is superb. No glitches or hiccups in the control or video feed (note to first time DJI users – DJI designed their software around the Apple OS – if you try to use an Android phone or tablet with their drones you will likely encounter technical difficulties – trust me, BTDT). As other users know, these drones practically fly themselves. Don’t miss the LED screen of the Pro as I never looked at it anyway – just use the IPad for all of my technical info and telemetry. To wrap up I am totally pleased with this little drone and its capabilities. And just plain fun to fly.
