I bought this model over the cheaper version because people say that it doesn’t get stuck in sand/silt/muck. When I used it, I didn’t have any problems so that was good. There is a small piece of plastic for strain relief but it’s not mentioned in the manual. I feel like all the tugging may have degraded the tether near that point. A more well though out strain relief would be a good idea. The app itself seems fine. It’s reminiscent of the DJI app. Downloading though the app is a chore and I had it lock up but for a device that only records for 20 minutes on each charge, you’re looking at less than 5GB and only a few minutes of waiting for the transfer. Okay, well if that’s all there was to this, maybe 3-4 stars. But it isn’t. The video quality is what drops the score. The encoding algorithm has a lot of motion blur and tends to be a bit grainy/blocky. When you’re on the bottom moving slow, the look is reminiscent of fine algae. It’s very distracting and completely ruins the video quality. This thing will do 6 Mbps. My cell phone is streets ahead at 50 Mbps. They really need to double down and fix the encoding issue to make this worth owning. Also, while it was in the water the drone suffered one disconnect. I can’t see why a tethered device should ever disconnect while in use and securely attached.

Unit didn’t include backpack, though it says it’s included. Also no freshwater ballast. They say it’s no longer included or needed, but ROV consistently sinks, which leads to sand and debris in the thrusters. Support wanted video of behavior, which I sent – only to have no reply for weeks. Icing was App update just before the July 4th holiday that completely broke drone – no video or compass updating on app controller. Numerous e-mails to support from July 1 through the holiday week, and almost 3 weeks later still no reply. App was updated to fix video and compass issues, but too late to use on vacation.

Plus only way to transfer video is open web browser to ROV and download, then use app to delete. Constant Wifi disconnects, and overall way to buggy. Don’t recommend. Looks like their other drones have similar issues so will look elsewhere. Seeing comment in forums it’s typical for 40-60 day response timeframes from support. Absolutely horrible service.

The Gladius Mini underwater drone is a compact and versatile device that opens up a whole new world of underwater exploration. I agree that it is an impressive piece of technology that allows users to take underwater exploration to new depths. As an underwater enthusiast, I was eager to put this advanced gadget through its paces. Here is my in-depth review of the underwater drone, which equipped with a 4K UHD underwater camera, remote control capabilities, and an array of impressive features.
First impressions matter, and the Gladius Mini certainly delivers in terms of design and build quality. The drone showcases a sleek and sturdy construction, ensuring durability even in challenging underwater conditions. Its compact size and lightweight nature make it incredibly portable, allowing for easy transportation and deployment.
Setting up the Gladius Mini was a breeze thanks to its intuitive control system. With a combination of the included remote controller and the mobile app, connecting and controlling the drone was a seamless experience. The app offers real-time viewing, providing a live stream from the drone’s 4K UHD camera, enabling you to explore the underwater world from the comfort of your device. Speaking of the camera, the Gladius Mini’s 4K UHD underwater camera truly shines. It captures breathtaking imagery with remarkable clarity and vivid colors, ensuring your underwater footage and photographs are of the highest quality. The adjustable tilt-lock feature allows you to set the camera angle according to your preferences, enabling you to capture the perfect shots effortlessly. I am still learning how to handle the camera better.
One of the standout features of the Gladius Mini is its impressive depth rating of up to 330ft (100meters). This exceptional depth capability expands the possibilities for underwater exploration, giving you the freedom to dive deeper and discover hidden treasures. The drone’s stability and maneuverability in underwater environments are commendable, allowing for smooth and controlled movements.
While the Gladius Mini excels in many aspects, there are a few areas that could benefit from improvement. First, although the battery life of approximately 2 hours is decent, an extended battery option would be advantageous for longer underwater excursions. Secondly, the tether could be extended to allow for a greater operating distance between the drone and the controller.
In summary, the Gladius Mini underwater drone is a versatile and technologically advanced device that brings the wonders of the underwater world within reach. Its impressive camera capabilities, intuitive controls, and array of features make it an excellent choice for divers, photographers, and marine enthusiasts seeking to capture and explore the beauty of the deep. With some minor improvement, the Gladius Mini would undoubtedly be an unbeatable underwater companion.

this ROV is awesome, for video the image is pretty good and the camera is able to record in dng format for better editing. the 4k at 60mb/s is not bad at all. fish have a mixed reaction to the drone, most are curious and will come towards it or try and circle it. this sample footage were taken in a murky florida pond and it still looks ok.

it hasn’t been without problems however…
the propellers are getting badly chipped after only a few excursions, the sand and debris in the water are eating away at the blades, which are thin plastic.
for some reason the drone will just decide to disconnect and when reconnected it displays a low battery warning, even though it is fully charged. it still drives for an hour or more but is annoying
any grass will disable the drone and require cleaning before it will run again.

still overall it works great and I believe the company has addressed many of these issues in their updated model

It moves through the water with the precision of an airborne drone. Very sensitive to maneuvers, very responsive, almost no FPV delay. Can travel quite fast if necessary. Tether is strong/tough. Its as simple as downloading the APP and charging the battery. After that, just need to learn the controls for very precise maneuvering. I would say quite high quality and durable; I’ve put it through its paces and it still works like new. I’ve taken video’s of my own lake that have blown my mind. If you find the underwater world interesting, fresh or salt, I highly recommend. The biggest problem so far is fighting the rest of the family to use it!!
