Miss the ef 55-210mm, don’t buy.

This camera is being used by a beginner photographer and he picked it up and starting taking picture immediately. It is extremely light and the mirrorless aspect gives it a much small footprint than mirrored cameras. This is even better when attaching the zoom lens.

Picture quality is fantastic. Even in low light it is capturing great pictures that are not out of focus.

    Very pleased with this camera.

  3. They all came alive and I got a baby

I bought this camera as a gift for my niece. It is a basic no frills mirrorless camera that should be easy for beginners to learn on. It takes excellent pictures, same as the more expensive Canon mirrorless cameras (I have the Canon R8 for comparison). It has all the manual setting options. However, if you use the manual settings be aware that the lenses revert to manual focus only. Autofocus only appears to work if you use the auto program where the camera selects all the settings. To me that is a draw back to this camera if you are an advanced amateur. If you are new to photography and looking for a starter camera, this is a great start. The camera takes excellent pictures and the lenses are a great buy if you plan to allow the camera to select the settings. My 3 star rating is due to the manual focus issue when using creative modes.

Good camera for the price. Wish the lenses were cheaper.

  6. Lisa A. Butler

I ONLY RECEIVED 1 LENSE AND NOT 55-210MM.

I ordered the camera a second time and again incomplete!

La calidad de Canon es indiscutible y ademas a un buen precio, excelente compra

Twenty-four years ago, my first serious camera was an all-manual Ricoh film camera. The only electronic feature it had was a built-in light meter for setting the exposure. Focus was achieved by aligning a split prism in the viewfinder. Today, I appreciate more convenience. When I’m on a photoshoot, I use autofocus to capture expressions quickly, but I still manually set the shutter, aperture, and ISO to ensure consistent exposure between locations, making batch processing easier.

For my needs—typically portraits, small events, and traveling—when buying a new camera, my priorities are solid build quality, sharp image quality, sufficient low-light performance, fast and accurate autofocus, long battery life, RAW output, and manual controls for the exposure triangle. The Canon EOS R100 delivers on all these fronts. I don’t need an articulating screen, touch controls, joysticks, thumb wheels, or streaming capabilities. I want a camera, not an Xbox.

The few drawbacks, as others have mentioned, include the camera being quite small. If you’re nearsighted, you might need to remove your glasses to see the screen, but I somehow don’t need to remove my glasses to look through the viewfinder. Additionally, manually changing ISO takes some navigating, back button focus isn’t an option, and the autofocus beep is hard to hear outside. I’ve started to just trust the camera to set the ISO automatically, with a 3200 maximum, and lock the exposure with the function button, and this has worked out surprisingly well. When I need to manually focus, focus peaking is an option, which works similarly to a split prism. How nostalgic.

To the credit of those who complained about the lack of modern features, they may have been integral in encouraging Canon to lower the price of the R100. I’m thankful for that because I’d be more willing to spend $300 for this camera than $600.

If you also appreciate simplicity and don’t have a regular need to record yourself, the Canon EOS R100 is an excellent buy as a primary or backup camera.

A couple of final notes: For an impressive demo of the video capabilities when using an ND filter, look up “Canon R100 4K Video Test” by DSI Pictures on YouTube. Secondly, I’d advise against investing heavily in RF-S lenses; instead, opt for full-frame RF lenses in case you decide to upgrade to a full-frame camera later. Lastly, the featured photo was taken at a yoga center.

I really like this camara, it’s light, easy to use. Takes very crisp pictures and it is amazing for beginners like me. I am still learning how to use it so the pictures i showed are not the best. The battery type is in the pictures . I think Amazon lowers the pic quality

Great camera. Was exactly what I was looking for. They had it on sale and I snatched it up!

Purchased this for my daughter who is just starting out. It is tiny which she loves. Great option for a first camera. The controls are not quite as assessible as higher end models but the images are very impressive. Autofocus is great too. It’s really all the camera body you need to get great images.

I purchased one and it came with Faulty chip and then I returned it because things happen and I got another one from the same seller. It worked for two months and then did the same thing again. Right after turning on the camera, it says overheated and it shut down

  13. Jane Perkins

I bought this mirrorless camera to replace my 2 EOS Rebel cameras because they were so heavy. This new beauty weighs only 12 ounces! The manual is online and easy to use. There are several YouTube videos I have watched to help with setup. I’m pleased to have this camera, that fits in my purse, to take when traveling as it takes way better pics than a phone. It has WiFi and I paired it with my iPad so pics are easily transferred for editing. I also considered buying the Sony A6000 but this Canon is less expensive and does the same things. And the Sony is discontinued.
