Got this for my A6600 and can say I am thoroughly impressed. This is a very fast and sharp lens capable of great photos and videos. The small size and low weight makes it a perfect mainstay on my camera.

Love it, light weight, sharp, great quality
Kind of wide angle and kind of zoom, it works for many types of photografy
Not cheap, but worth it

I have used this lens to do a couple of shoots now so I have a good feel for the image quality. The lens is small, light, and focuses well in both photo and video modes. The image quality is excellent for a zoom lens. You will get about 90% of prime quality. Now, depending on your what your doing with your photos this may be more than good enough but if you want the absolute best quality then you will need to go to primes. It’s hard to put my finger on what exactly it’s missing but it just doesn’t produce the same quality as my primes but for a zoom it does a very good job.

As a dedicated Sony E-mount shooter, I recently added the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens to my arsenal, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Here’s why:
Pros:
– Stunning image quality with F2.8 aperture.
– Compact and lightweight for everyday use.
– Fast and silent autofocus for photo and video.
– Solid build quality with weather-sealing.
Cons:
– Limited zoom range.
– Manual focus ring could be smoother.
Overall, the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 lens is a standout choice for Sony E-mount shooters, offering exceptional performance and versatility in a compact package. Highly recommended for photographers and videographers alike.

Pour mon A6700 cet objectif fait le job. C’est super de pouvoir s’approcher du sujet comme pour faire de la macro. Lumineux, pas lourd, net, ok pour moi.

I’m a photographer that shoot most of my stuff while hiking and travelling. Size, Performance and versatility are my three biggest factors. Usually, I have to compromise pretty heavily between them. Last year I hiked in Zion for a week with the Sony 16F2.8, Which was amazing for keeping the weight down on long high-mileage days, and virtually disappeared on the camera. This was in exchange for meh results and a lot of lens flare and aberration. This year I decided to suck up the size, and took a Sigma 16F1.4. The weight was reasonable, and the pictures were amazing, but the lens itself was a chonk and it was frequently in the way. Both of these lenses also lacked versatility, resulting in a lot of shots where I shot wide and sucked it up for a heavy crop in post.
Enter the Sigma 18-50f2.8. Pictures are sharp as a tack, check. Common 55mm Filter size, check. Small package, check. Reasonable weight, functional zoom range, decently wide aperture etc. It frankly does it all, and does it without being fat, heavy, obtrusive or expensive. Is it my favorite lens? No. It’s frankly, just a little boring. It doesn’t have a niche. It is however ASTOUNDINGLY capable. It’s great to watch a player who shoots from half court, has handles like a Globetrotter or will dunk over 3 defenders, but this lens is the guy on the team who is a solid 9/10 in every fundamental and plays everything textbook. It’s not a “fun” lens, but it will absolutely get the job done capably in every situation, in a smaller package and half the price of it’s competitors.
The minor gripes: The focus/zoom rings are annoying. They’re flush with the barrel and I frequently have trouble finding the right one by instinct. They’re smooth, but not intuitive to find. The lens hood when stowed also gets in the way of the rings. There is also no image stabilization. As a photographer, this doesn’t bother me a bit. If you’re a videographer, this will probably be a big problem if you don’t have in-body image stabilization or a gimbal.

Sigma lenses have not disappointed me. Using on my Sony a6400 the 18-50/2.8 is the perfect size for travel and I’ve been incredibly pleased with the images I’ve gotten. I’ve taken shots in bright sunlight and darkness. I’ve been very pleased with the results I get with this lens.

Can’t go wrong with Sigmas 18-50mm F2.8 Lens, its fast, sharp w/ great auto focus performance. Light weight build in a small for factor, plastic build but it feels robust and doesn’t feel cheap. Great for all Sony APS-C cameras!
